Beautiful Poem by Rudyard Kipling

I came across this poem in the newspaper today.Even though I have read this poem before, but reading it today gives me a different perspective and feelings. Such a thought-provoking poems with an important message too - dis-attachement.

So savour it and let me know your thoughts. Here it goes:

“If” by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired of waiting,

Or,being lied about, dont deal in lies,

Or,being hated, but dont give way to hating,

And yet dont look too good, nor talk too wise,

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,

If you can think - and not make your thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with triumph and disaster,

And treat those two imposters just the same,

If you can bear to hear the truth you;ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you give your life to broken,

And stood and build ‘em up without wornout tools,

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose and start again at your beginnings

And never breath a word about your loss,

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them “Hold on”,

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with the kings - nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of ditance run -

Yours is the earth and everything that’s in it,

And - which is more - you’ll be a Man my son!

What do you do when you’re not in a good mood?

When I am not in a good mood, even the omelette that I fried are slightly burnt! (luckily lightly burnt, still taste good :) ). I wanted to go out but the rain starts pouring.

So what do you do when you’re not in a good mood? I just keep doing the things that I am supposed to do,so long it’s there’s no major decisions that i need to make.

We are beings,to make us more special,we are human beings. We are given the ability to think and reason unlike the cute pigs, have feelings unlike the beautiful trees and becoz of that we are to determine the course of our destiny.

What I realise today is I am more than my thoughts.I am larger than my feelings. I am responsible for my actions but I am not defined solely by my actions.

With that in mind, I remind myself that I dont need to stop doing what I need to do when I am not feeling good, becoz I am above my feelings. It’s important though, to be aware and acknowledge how I am feeling and keep moving forward!

What about you? What do you do when you’re not in a good mood?

I have a dream

I have a dream,

A song to sing,

To help me cope,

With anything…

That’s how the song goes, right? Well, I do have a dream, to be exact dreams! The challenge by the end of the day is whether one has the courage to act on persistently to realize his dream.

I hope I have. I have. I really have.

My smaller vision is to publish a personal development magazine. My business model is to give it out for free and the profit is from advertisements.

My bigger vision is to set up a public personal development library. It will be as huge as a shopping complex. Few years ago, mega gyms like True Fitness, Celebrity Fitness are mushrooming because they introduce a “lifestyle” especially to the urban. While we can go to all these gyms to enhance our physical fitness, where do we go for mental fitness?

Where do people in the city go during the weekends? My best bet – Shopping complexes!

My vision for this personal development library is that it will be an alternative for the folks on where they and the family should go during the weekends. You have an option to come together as a family to learn. Oooh…I have think about lots of activities I could do in this library…there will be humour session, audio and visual sections, sections for the kids, a cinema premiering movies that inspires, sharing and mastermind group and of course… a hall of glory…the hall where the best ideas will be created in this magical hall.

There will be seminar rooms for the corporates to think out of the box, creativity sessions…and so much more! I think this library is going to be the hippest thing in town!

The kids then will learn the value of learning with the family members while having lots of fun…instead of craving for things in the shopping complexes.

Well, no offence for shopping complexes,in fact I love shopping complexes!

I have benefited so much from personal development that I wish more people would pursue on their own. It is so sad that so many people doesn’t lead their life, instead they got carried away with life… studying degree courses that they don’t like, getting a job that’s indifferent to them apart from the income that comes with it and more sadly, some believe that you can’t make a living doing what you like!

I am the one who is always blessed. I always get what I want. I believe in human’s potential. I believe in kindness and faith. I value contribution. Even though some thought that I lived in my own fairyland.

I had a good headstart of personal development in my first job. I was introduced to goal-settings (I always go for a goal-settings retreat end of the year), been given the opportunity to get to know a lot of nice and kind people and listen to their life experience. That is the reason why I never doubt that I will stay in education and people development line for the rest of my life.

I like what Jim Rohn said “Personal development is an invitation sent to many but too few people actually show up.” I hope you will show up. Make a difference in your life.

You could make a difference in your life the moment you decided to. It just requires you to be more aware about yourself…your thoughts…your emotions…your actions….your results…It’s time to take charge instead of getting carried away in routines that doesn’t seem to inspire you anymore.

Again, I invite you to a personal development journey. Please let me know what’s in your mind.
